Recently we published an infographic on the Top 1000 European SaaS Providers covering the European SaaS ecosystem. We now take a closer look at the characteristics of the top four SaaS applications: Communications, Finance/ERP, Online Workspace and CRM. Check out the table below for more information:
On average 40% of all European SaaS providers provide online ordering and onboarding. Finance/ERP and CRM SaaS vendors score above the European average with 53% and 57% respectively, while Communications and Online Workspace providers score 18% and 13%. The low score for Communications and Online Workspace is likely due to the more intricate sales process for these applications, involving customisation of the application for each customer. In the case of communications, often hardware endpoints are bundled in the sale as well.
On average 57% of all European SaaS providers have an IaaS partner. Finance/ERP and CRM SaaS vendors score above the European average with 68%, while Communications and Online Workspace providers score 25% and 15% respectively. The low score for Communications and Online Workspace is likely due to custom hardware requirements that cause vendors of these applications to manage their own infrastructure.
On average 53% of all European SaaS providers with an IaaS partner have the SaaS instance located in their home country. Communications, Finance/ERP and CRM score accordingly. Online Workspace is the odd one out, 87% of Online Workspace providers have their production site located in their home country. This is likely due to the fact that Online Workspace applications demand low latency and thus close proximity to the customer.
While the three most popular IaaS partners for all European SaaS vendors are AWS, Rackspace and Hetzner, Azure is in the top three for Finance/ERP and OVH for Communications.
