Amsterdam, 30 November 2015. IT industry analyst firm The METISfiles has released the inaugurate version of the Swedish Public Cloudscape. Designed to highlight the local Swedish XaaS provider ecosystem, the Swedish Cloudscape provides a snapshot of who the most important Swedish cloud providers are and in which cloud segments and categories they specialize.
Version 1.0 visualizes 172 cloud providers. SaaS is the most popular segment with 70% of entries. 28% of entries are IaaS providers and only 2% offer PaaS.
Within the SaaS segment, Communications is the leading SaaS offering with 16% of SaaS vendors. Digital Marketing commands a 8% share of SaaS followed by Finance/ERP (7%), eCommerce (4%), Online Payment (4%), eInvoicing (3%), Online Workspace (3%) and Security (3%). The “other” segment (51%) has a wide variety of specialisations.
Other interesting characteristics of Swedish SaaS providers include:
- 62% of SaaS providers have an IaaS partner, 38% have their own infrastructure
- 55% of SaaS providers that have an IaaS partner are located in a Swedish data centre, 20% are in another European country, 25% are in the US
- 59% of SaaS providers that have an IaaS partner provide online ordering and onboarding compared to 33% of those that have their own infrastructure
