Amsterdam, 11 June 2014 – IT industry analyst firm The METISfiles has released the inaugurate version of the Spanish Public Cloudscape. Designed to highlight the local Spanish SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS provider ecosystem, the Spanish Cloudscape provides a snapshot of who the most important Spanish cloud providers are and in which cloud segments and categories they specialize.
Version 1.0 visualizes 169 Spanish cloud providers of which 11% are active in more than one segment or category, resulting in a total of 196 entries. SaaS is the most popular segment with 69% of entries. 29% of entries are IaaS providers and only 2% offer PaaS services.
Within the SaaS segment, Finance/ERP is the leading SaaS offering with 17% of SaaS vendors. Communications commands a 13% share of SaaS followed by CRM (10%), Collaboration (7%), Healthcare (7%), Project Management (6%) and Digital Marketing (4%). The “other” segment (37%) has a wide variety of specialisations of which Security, Online Workspace and HRM are popular categories.
21% of IaaS providers also offer SaaS solutions such as Communications and Online Workspace. “We expect IaaS, Online Workspace and Communications offerings to merge into a broader infrastructure category in the future” says METISfiles analyst Pim Bilderbeek. “We also expect the number of Spanish cloud providers to grow as an increasing number of businesses is embracing public cloud solutions”
