For those of us who can’t switch off during the end of year holidays, here’s a quick blog post with some advice for CIOs, business managers, and IT vendors. First of all, we continue to stand by our CIO itinerary that we published last year. Our 3-2-1 travel guideline for the CIO in a nutshell is:
3 – Three destinations: Cloud, Social and Mobile
2- Two paths: IT Roadmap and the nature trail
1 – One strategy: Be the travel guide, not the operator
This year we add to that our – tongue in cheek – ABCDE guideline, for CIOs, business managers and IT vendors:
A – Automate the application. Software as-a-service (SaaS) solutions continue to take a larger chunk out of IT and business budgets and will be a bigger share of IT vendor revenues.
B – Bin the Tin. Infrastructure as-a-service (IaaS) will continue to take a larger chunk out of IT budgets and will be a bigger share of IT vendor revenues.
C – Cancel the CIO. Bring your own IT (BYOIT) will continue to be a cause of concern for the CIO in 2013, both because of management headaches and IT department/CIO relevance.
D – Ditch your own Data Centre. Big Data as-a-service (BDaaS) will be the means by which most organizations implement Big Data solutions. Check out our Big Data Multi-Client here.
E – Elasticize the Enterprise. On-demand consumption of IT and Telecommunications infrastructure, platforms, software and services will be the new ICT paradigm for the new enterprise.
So much for the looking ahead section. Looking back here’s a popularity (most read) ranking of our 2012 blog content for you to check out:
